Wanderlust Link Party & The Middle East
The Middle East isn’t somewhere that a lot of people envision travelling to at the moment because of the turmoil that is rife there. But there are a handful of places that I would love to travel to in the Middle East so this week my Wednesday Wanderlust is for The Middle East.
My Top Middle East Cities
1. Istanbul, Turkey

I’ve gushed about my strong wanderlust for Istanbul before so I won’t go on and and on about my absolute love for this place (even though I’ve never been!)
2. Cairo, Egypt

Obviously you have to love Cairo as the gateway to the Giza pyramids and the treasures in the Egyptian museum, but I also long to see the River Nile and the faded grandeur of the city itself. While technically Egypt is in Northern Africa, it is commonly and controversially grouped into being Middle Eastern. I have included it because it shares a lot of Middle Eastern traditions.
3. Dubai, UAE
This city of the future intrigues me more and more each year and while I have bounced through here on flights I have never had the chance to stop and experience it. The fountain, the temples, the Burj, the malls, the desert in a 4×4, on a camel, in a hot air balloon, under the stars – I want to see it all.
4. Petra, Jordan

It is an ancient city sculpted out of rock, seriously, who wouldn’t want to see that. Besides, I might run into Indiana Jones!
5. Muscat, Oman

Oman is on travellers hot lists as somewhere where you can see the ancient soul of Arabia in a more modern setting, that is yet to be taken over by wealth. Not to mention the natural beauties it holds.
