This week I have the sweet pleasure of having Lucy from Bake Play Smile as my guest for Friday Favourites. A primary school teacher by day, Lucy is a whizz in the kitchen by night, sharing her recipes and cooking adventures with us all. Let’s find out a little more about Lucy and what her five favourite things are.
I was so excited when Malinda asked me to be part of her Friday Favourites series. I love reading her blog and am so thrilled to be part of it!
1. Port Douglas
Port Douglas is by far my favourite place in Australia. My grandparents lived there (my Gran still does) and I just love everything about it… the lifestyle, the weather, the people and the beach! When my husband proposed, I knew straight away that I wanted to get married in Port Douglas – and luckily for me, he was thrilled with the idea! Whenever we visit, we always go to Salsa for dinner (it’s the best restaurant in Port Douglas by far!), have an afternoon drink at The Courthouse, go to the Sunday market, sit out on the lawn at the yacht club, and then pretty much spend the rest of the time at the beach.
2. Baking with my Mum
I grew up baking with my mum each weekend and she really instilled a love of cooking in me. She’s one of the best cooks I know – but she’s way too modest to admit that. Baking is my favourite way to relax and de-stress. I love everything about it… especially the eating part! A slice of really good chocolate cake can fix just about any problem!
3. My family
I’m incredibly lucky to have married the most amazing man – he truly is my best friend. Dave and I were actually high school sweethearts and have now been together for 11 years. We have the most beautiful golden retriever Shari who’s just the sweetest little thing ever (actually she’s not that little, but you know what I mean!).
I have a bit of a split personality. On the one hand, I’m such a homebody who loves to potter around at home baking, but on the other hand, I’m a total traveloholic. I absolutely love to travel. We’ve been lucky enough to visit lots of amazing countries in Asia and Europe. I love how travelling opens your eyes up to the incredible world out there. Our dream is to go back over to Europe and rent out a little villa for 3 months… we just need to get saving now!
Photography is only something that I’ve very recently got into. Earlier this year I decided that my iPhone just wasn’t cutting it for my blog food photography and I needed to learn how to use a proper camera. What started out as a bit of fun has now become quite the addiction – I love playing around with different angles/backdrops etc. To be honest, I’ve become a bit obsessed. Mind you, I’m still only very much a beginner, but it’s heaps of fun learning something new!
So that’s pretty much me! Thank you again to Malinda for letting me be part of her Friday Favourites. If you’re ever after some foodie inspiration or recipes, then please pop over to my blog www.bakeplaysmile.com – just make sure you bring your stretchy pants!
Thank you so much for joining in My Friday Favourites Lucy, you are such a gem, even if your recipes do make me fat, it is a happy fat. 🙂 It is not surprising that I am drawn to Lucy’s blog as we share very similar interests – food, travel, and photography all with a big serving of sentimentality for family.
