Lady Sadie’s Emporium
My Friday Favourites guest this week comes to you from across the seas. Meet Sarah, she is an Aussie living in Doha, Qatar. For the uninitiated this is on the coastline in the Middle East - nice huh?! Her blog, Lady Sadie’s Emporium is where she shares her love of fashion, cooking, interior design and a few personal stories of course. But today, Sarah is sharing her 5 favourite things.
Hello, I’m Sarah from Lady Sadie’s Emporium. I was tickled pink when Malinda invited me to guest blog, how exciting! So I’ve been asked to share 5 of my favourite things, it was tough as I love so many things but here it goes.
I’ve been living in Doha for the last 5 years. Being an expat most definitely has its ups and downs, it is so incredibly hard living away from friends and family but we’ve had some amazing opportunities and we’ve been able to travel and I don’t know if I would have ever started my blog if it wasn’t for my life here. One of my favourite places to visit is the MIA park which looks out onto the Doha skyline. Isn’t she a pretty city? I’m sure it’s not what people imagine when they think of the Middle East, I really do love my home away from home.
I was kind of obsessed last week with apples and cake, I have no idea why, but I got it in my head and before I knew it I was whipping up this delicious cake in my kitchen. Oh the smell of cinnamon…is there anything better?!
We have been so fortunate to be able to travel whilst living in the Middle East. Nothing gives me joy like seeing cities and countries through my daughter’s eyes. Being based in Doha, we are not too far from anywhere really and we’ve managed to see a fair chunk of the world.
I’ve been embracing the pastel trend over the last few weeks. I’m definitely a shopaholic. I tend to shop at mostly high street stores like H&M, Dorothy Perkins and River Island. I’m also a big fan of online shopping from places like Old Navy and ASOS. I miss Australian stores like Target, Katies, Witchery and Country Road and when I come home to visit I always make sure to go on a little shopping spree…ok a big shopping spree.
Last but by no means least, my little family of three is my favourite thing in the world. I have married my best friend who makes me laugh, like belly laugh, we have so much fun. We’ve had a tough time over the last few years trying to have another baby, but through all the dramas, he keeps me smiling and laughing and is my biggest supporter. My gorgeous little girl Sadie really is my dream come true, she drives me up the wall at times but man do I love that kid. We have so much fun together and I love that she’s my little sidekick.
So there you have it, my 5 favourite things. I hope you enjoyed this little insight into my world.
Thanks Sarah, I did enjoy reading that and it makes me smile to see someone getting so much happiness out of life and making the most of their opportunities. I too have been baking apple cakes, (yours wins with that delicious caramel finish), though I must admit that I am all about bright colours at the moment rather than the softer pastels. Thanks for sharing with us.
