That Summer Feeling

This week’s guest is Michelle from That Summer Feeling. I recently did a guest post on her blog for her ‘week that was’ feature. You can also find travel stories, summer memories and photography on her blog. Before you race off to have a look, have a look at her Friday Favourites list.

Hi there lovely My Brown Paper Packages reader,

I just love this blog and I’m thrilled to be a part of Malinda’s Friday Favourites. It was pretty hard to narrow down just five things that I love but here goes:

Family

Friday Favourite That Summer Feeling Family

This one is a no-brainer, my family are everything to me. I talk about them a lot on my blog. My husband and children, mum, sister, brother-in-law, niece and nephew are a huge part of my world along with my daughters partners. This photo was taken earlier this year on my Mum’s 70th birthday. I love it because it’s just us, in the moment between poses.

Tropical Everything

I know pineapples are a bit OTT at the moment but I love them, in fact I love anything with a tropical kitsch feel. Pineapples, flamingos, palm trees, hula dolls. Anything tropical makes my world a brighter, happier place. People often send me photos of anything with pineapples on them and I recently found a gorgeous pineapple watch, but I think the best thing was this pineapple print cardigan that my beautiful friend Clare from Girl Fifteen in America sent to me as a surprise.

Community

Friendship and community make the world go around don’t they? I have a fantastic and supportive online and real life community that gives me so much love and encouragement. It’s because of those people that I continue to trot out my life for all to see. I recently met some of my online friends on a recent trip to Melbourne. I was worried they would think I wasn’t as interesting in the flesh as I seem on the internet. I needn’t have worried. These women were absolutely brilliant. Warm, funny and engaging and we chatted easily. I also adore the capacity for new friendships to occur. There is always room for new friends.

Street Photography

This is a new-found hobby for me. I find street photography engrossing and exciting. It’s amazing how much you ‘see’ when you start to look for the interesting moments in familiar settings. It took me a while to feel comfortable heading out into the city at lunchtime with my camera, but I figured that nobody really cared what I was doing or they assumed I was a tourist. This is one of my favourite lunchtime shots. There was something that struck me about the banks of phone-books and pay phones, almost obsolete but they still have their place.

The Sunshine Coast (Queensland)

We may have moved away from this area four years ago but it is the place where my heart is. Fortunately we were able to keep our home there and have every intention of moving back in a few years. It also helps that my mum lives there so we always have somewhere to stay when we visit.

I hope you liked my Friday Favourites and I warmly invite you to come and visit me on my blog from time to time.

Thanks for sharing Michelle. I love those in-between photos so much more than the posed ones, they seem to really capture people’s personalities and mood in the moment. And lucky you - pineapples and flamingoes seem to be everywhere at the moment.

Do you feel self conscious taking photos in public places on a regular day?

Don’t forget to share what’s on your #myfridayfavourites list this week and say hello to Michelle over on That Summer Feeling.
