For as long as I can remember I had always wanted to go to Italy and on every wanderlust itinerary I dreamed up the string of old seaside villages on the Riviera coastline, known as Cinque Terre, were always on the list. So of course when I finally had the chance to travel to Italy we spent a few days staying here.
We explored the winding narrow alleyways of the five villages – Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. We locked our love up on the ‘lovers walk’ and threw the key into the pristine waters below. We earned every gelato we ate by climbing the steep stairs every day. We ate the most amazing food that was full of intense flavours making the memories just as strong. We ventured to hike between the villages across the green hillside farmland, treading between their carefully tended crops. We laid on the hot rocks at the beach while the chilly waters of the Ligurian Sea lapped at the edge.
I will never forget our days along the Cinque Terre and will probably always long to return there again one day.
