At the moment I feel like my life is at a crossroads and I have some decisions to make, so I thought that I would makes this weeks Wednesday Wanderlust about the crossroads that we encounter while travelling. Not so much the crucial decision making but rather the more literal intersection of borders/ countries/ roads.
I have been to the Golden Triangle, the point where Thailand, Laos and Myanmar (Burma) intersect while on the way to do a Visa border crossing. It is nothing much more than a tourist trap now but has a long history surrounding the Opium trade.
I have also seen the quadruple whammy with Namibia, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe all converging on the Chobe River. This was perhaps one of the most spectacular sunsets I have ever seen, complete with frolicking hippos.
Perhaps you have been at ‘the’ crossroads in America where Route 61 and 49 intersect in the Mississippi and Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil to master the Blues. Or maybe you have done the Shibuya crossing in Tokyo, or driven over the spaghetti roads in Los Angeles? Have you stood on the corner of 4 states at once? Have you stood on the earth’s equator?
Have you stood at any crossroads in your travels?
