Wanderlust Far from Home
Do you remember that part of the story in Lord of the Rings when Sam says “If I take one more step, I will be the farthest away from home I’ve ever been”? This week for Wednesday Wanderlust I am thinking about how far from home I have been in my travels. Come wanderlust far from home with me.
As a side note, love JRR Tolkein’s books and the movies are one of the few that I think did a good adaptation of the original story. So many great movies like this have inspired wanderlust.
So, here I am on the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia. I am happy to be able to call this my home and while I love to travel and have even briefly lived overseas, I will still call Australia home.
The furthest North I have been is Amsterdam in the Netherlands. An awesome little part of the world with gorgeous tulips, yummy little poffertjes and cobblestone streets that idle along beside the canals.
Then we head South, and while Australia is pretty far down under, New Zealand beats that with Queenstown being the most southerly point I’ve visited. Full of icy cold snow and breathtaking views every way you turn I loved the scenery in NZ.
East and West is a little harder to figure out but I found that it would be Paris in France for me. A city that will always have my love and that I know I will return to one day, hopefully sooner rather than later.
So of course, that is where I have actually been, which got me wondering where in the world is the furthest from home I could actually go. It is either Morocco or Spain – so my wanderlust lies there this week.
What is the furthest you have been from home?
Where is the furthest city you can get to?
