Easter in our Home
Happy Easter to all my readers and drifters through! It was an early start in our home this morning with the Easter Bunny hopping through our yard in the dark at 3am. (Yes, that means us!) This was necessary because our girls were awake and ready to find out if the Easter Bunny had been at 5:30am, not their earliest morning but early enough to need lights on.
At the end of their beds he had filled their Easter baskets with new winter pyjamas and slippers.
Outside he had chomped on his carrot and splashed in the water and left behind sprinkles of magic glitter and a note to say Thanks for his drawing that was left out for him. Chocolate eggs were hidden all around the garden and thankfully we had counted them the night before to be sure we had collected them all. Inside were bowls and plates overflowing with chocolates and tiny fluffy chickens.
After the egg-citement (sorry I couldn’t help myself) of finding all these wonderful gifts we headed out to an Easter Spectacular where we cuddled bunnies and had a fairy make some balloon animals. There were crafts, face painting and jumping castles and last but not least the much anticipated Egg Hunt that we waited around for in the increasing heat of the day. Finally the bunny was on his way and the kids were sectioned into age groups and allowed into the fenced off area. Then the mania started as a basket full of tiny eggs was dumped in the centre and all the kids ran to pick them up. Imagine 100 under 4′s scrambling in a 3 square meter patch of grass amongst worried parents and sneaky over 4′s. It was a nightmare and I was just glad to see my little girl emerge unscathed and proudly clutching a few brightly wrapped chocolate eggs.
In the afternoon we did some more craft making floppy eared glittery dogs to play with the bunnies we had made earlier. We ate hot cross buns, of course. And Miss 3 played ‘Easter’ with her toys. This involved making a home for them under the dining table, tucking them all into little beds, reading them a story, and then hopping around hiding eggs for them to find when they woke up. And then of course we had to head back outside to be sure we had collected all of the eggs. And with a sneaky handful off the plate I made sure that we had indeed missed a few sneaky eggs from the Easter Bunny.
Now, our girls are tucked up in bed and the rain is pattering on the windows as night sets in. It’s the perfect time to snuggle up on the lounge with a few chocolates and a good movie.
What is Easter like in your home? Did you have a fabulous day?
