Big Words Blog
Today I am welcoming to my blog, Bianca from Big Words Blog. Eeek, I know right! You can see me blushing right now can’t you! I think Bianca is amazing and so do a lot of other people. You should see her list of accolades: Kidspot Voices of 2014 top blogger; Australian Writers Centre Australian Blog of the Year Finalist; and not that I am name dropping but Escape Travel, Mamamia, Marie Claire, ABC Radio, Today Show, Channel 10; and a book on the way! Bianca does all this and has 3 gorgeous children in Adelaide. Suffice to say I am in awe at how wonderfully well Bianca has done as a freelance writer and I am very happy to introduce her as this week’s guest for Friday Favourites.
What a lovely surprise to be asked to write about my favourite things. It’s hard to narrow it down to just five. I find my list changes every day, sometimes more than once, but there are definitely a few constants. Chocolate donuts are definitely up there except I’m trying hard not to eat them at the moment. And I can’t bring myself to say that kale is one of top five things because it’s gross.
So here goes it, here are five things I’m loving right now:
Family
This is a no brainer. A given. A constant. My three girls and my husband rock my world. They make me the angriest and the happiest. They make me laugh the loudest. Cry the longest. Smile the widest. And they fill my soul with joy. I love them right now, yesterday, tomorrow and forever.
Anchor
I got my first tattoo about two years ago and I’ve been obsessing over getting another ever since. So I did. My first tattoo was a little love heart on my wrist. This time I got a small anchor on the inside of my right ankle. I adore this symbol of family and hope. And it’s also a symbol of our recent trip to Venice Beach in California.
Roller Skates
Also a reminder of our holiday, are my new roller skates. They’re black suede Sure-Grips with bright orange wheels. They’re smooth and fast and I love them. I took up skating again about a year ago. When I was a kid I skated all the time. I missed the feeling of freedom you get when skating so I found a local class and haven’t looked back. It helps me feel young again.
Passport
When I was in my 20s I traveled a lot. My passport was filled with stamps from all over the place. And then when we had our three girls, overseas travel was put on hold. Recently we got the chance to travel again and I had to renew my passport and get new passports for the kids. It was such a thrill. Knowing that we can jump on a plane and experience the world together as a family is awesome.
Determination
I’ve been on a mission to get back into shape. It’s a constant battle of mine and I started writing about it on my blog. The Wobbly series has been one where I vent about my struggles, fears, successes, setbacks and hopes. By sharing my own journey to better health I have connected with so many others in a similar situation. It’s not about getting skinny. It’s about getting fit, lowering my blood pressure and basically not being at risk of heart disease or diabetes. It’s about living longer and being happier. And the one thing which constantly surprises me, has been my determination to keep going, even at my most wobbly times. Come and share your experiences with me.
Thanks so much for having me. Please pop on over and say hi at Facebook.
Have a super rad day!

Thank you Bianca, a truly fabulous list. I never thought to add Passport to my list but it totally makes sense for all of the memories it holds and all of the possibilities. I am feeling a bit wobbly myself at the moment and I know that I need to get back to being active and fit but I am full of excuses, I’m sick, it’s cold, too tired, busy … which is horrible because I feel so good when I do exercise so I envy your determination.
