A Mother Far From Home
I would like you to meet Rachel. She writes over at A Mother Far From Home. She is now living in Australia with her husband and three beautiful children, but her hometown is Florida, which is as she says, very far away. When I asked Rachel what her five favourite things are at the moment she told me that as a busy mum with three strapping little kids, she looks to the small things in her day that bring her joy. I think this is a lovely idea and something we should all keep in mind. Here are 5 of Rachel’s current favourite things.
1. Katie Daisy art. I have no less than 9 of her prints in our home. They are affordable and she ships international!
2. Wooden toys. I don’t like collecting too many toys, but some of our favourites are wooden train, bus or toy sets.
3. Reading time with the kids. My husband and I are big readers and the children are turning out the same. We have tons of books in our home, and their current favourite series are Llama Llama and Fancy Nancy.
4. Matching outfits. I know everyone thinks family matching outfits are lame, but to be honest, I don’t care what anyone else thinks. I love getting the kids dressed and matching colors or styles. It makes the cutest pictures!
5. Hats. I love hats. I have a few hats I keep handy for many reasons. Like a bad hair day, or a no makeup day (which is everyday), or when I’m feeling homesick. I’d like to say it’s a passing phase, but I think it’s here to stay.
I would like to thank Rachel for her lovely list of favourite things. I love to read with my kids too. Miss 4 is loving Enid Blyton and after reading the Magic Faraway Tree series (twice!) we are now on to The Wishing Chair. Meanwhile my youngest (21months) is loving Chu’s Day and her Playschool Alphabet book.
