Nobby Beach Cafe

There is a hill in Nobby Beach on the Gold Coast that for many people evokes a sense of nostalgia. Magic Mountain used to be an amusement park on the Gold Coast. It closed down in 1987 but not before I had the chance to visit it as a child with my 3 brothers. We took Dad for his birthday. Just what every dad wants right?! I think I was only 4 when we went there but I do distinctly remember the huge ball pit and the sticker I stuck on my bedroom door which I am sure my Mum cursed under her breath at me for and it is probably still stuck there today.

In my mind Nobby Beach has been stuck back in the 80′s, a long forgotten pocket on the Gold Coast with a strip of shops with signs that look like they haven’t been updated since the amusement park shut down. However on a recent visit there we found that it is moving forward and while the old second hand book store remains there are also a few new little stores popping open.

We had a few drinks at 52 Espresso. A great little cafe that has a quirky alternative feel to it. The staff were friendly, the coffee silky smooth and the babycino definitely passed the strict testing by our mini aficionado with two giant marshmallows and a generous swish of chocolate .

It always gives me warm fuzzies to find a cafe that exudes that comfy lived in i-could-have-been-coming-here-forever feeling and makes great coffee too. Have you ever found a cafe like that?
