Saturday Bliss
There is a different vibe about weekends. It is probably the collective happiness of the community as everyone chills out for a couple of days and gets about doing their favourite things. Whatever it is I love it.
This morning I slept in. That is I at least stayed in bed while I listened to the girls climb all over Daddy in the lounge room. At least by keeping my eyes firmly shut tight I can pretend I am still asleep. It wasn’t until I felt tiny fingers tickling my side and a warm breath giggling on my ear that I knew the game was over and I couldn’t hide any longer. But that’s ok because we were heading out for breakfast.

Off towards the beach we drove and this morning we ended up at a very popular coffee shop called Commune. The drinks menu is scrawled up on the walls and as seems to be a trend at the moment the menu was printed on a simple brown paper attached to a clipboard.
With our table number, well uno card in hand and with a bit of luck we found a table that was shaded and had enough seats. It was tucked away in a back corner and unfortunately was right next to the kitchen so we had to contend with the noise but the groovy music playing made up for it and sitting at the back we were able to people watch without the awkward turn around.
There was a mix of people sitting down to breakfast – families with small children, environmental hippies, post workout friends, couples, and just because it’s the weekend-ers. Everyone was happy, and everyone was enjoying the food. The tables and chairs were a funky mix of vintage finds and their love of art is shown through the artwork on the walls. The food and drinks were tasty and it was a great start to the day.
Just down the road we wandered our local farmers markets and found some great fresh produce to feast on this week. When our canvas bag was full and we couldn’t fit in any more samples we headed back home. And check out the adorable Easter plate I got this week, though I am sure I will find any excuse to pull it out through the year.
Now back at home I am relaxing outside, enjoying the sunshine blue sky, the cool breeze and listening to the sounds of my birthday cake being baked in the kitchen. I am assured that it will be the most decadent amazing delicious birthday cake ever. And judging by the smudge of chocolate on miss 3’s chin it just might be.
What are you up to this weekend? I hope it is some of your favourite things.
