10 Questions
Last week I answered 10 questions for my Liebster Award and I then had to make up 10 questions of my own to ask my own list of nominees. I thought it was only fair if I answered them too.
1. Sweet or Salty?
I like the best of both worlds. The combination of salty pretzels with chocolate m&ms is perfect. Balsamic Caramel Popcorn with Sea Salt, heaven. I think that is why I like Thai food so much, it is the perfect combination of flavours that balance the sweet and salty just right.
2. Where do you Wanderlust for?
Everywhere. I was told not so long ago that I must like to travel because people who always want to travel want to escape something, but I don’t think that is true at all. I want to travel so that I can see and do and experience new things. And I don’t want to do it alone, I want to have someone there next to me to share the experience with and to turn to and say ‘wow, did you see that?”. Every week I Wanderlust for somewhere different for my #wednesdaywanderlust feature, so you will just have to wait until Wednesday to find out what it is this week!
3. What was the last book you read? For yourself, not the kids!
My girls love books which is great because so do I. I have always encouraged them to read and I am hoping that their love of books grows with them. We read every night before bedtime and I love this time of the day (partly due to the fact that it is almost bedtime!!). When they were each babies I had a bit of a book hiatus because books and sleep deprivation just don’t mix but I am well and truly back into reading now and I pretty much read at least a few pages every night before I nod off to sleep. The last five novels I have read were:
- Little Bee by Chris Cleave
- The Fault in our Stars by John Green
- The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
- And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini
- The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion
and I am currently reading White Fang by Jack London.
4. If you had $100 burning a hole in your pocket what would you spend it on?
I just bought a house, today in fact, and we move in tomorrow!! So I doubt I will have $100 burning a hole in my pocket any time soon. But, if I did I might spend it on … plants for the veggie garden, or maybe a massage for my aching body after lifting and moving all of our stuff (so much stuff!), maybe a new outfit as I just realised how outdated my clothes are, or I could get some new cushions for the lounge room. So many things on my wish list. How about I settle for getting my camera fixed so I can take lots of photos to share with you all.
5. What are 5 of your favourite things from this week?
Every week I share #myfridayfavourites and ask a guest to share their top five favourite things. This week just gone my list was fresh strawberries and dark chocolate, such an awesome combination and I feel a little less guilty snacking on this at night; escaping the house (and the children) to go out for a nice Turkish lunch with my Mr; Almost being packed to move house because the packing is worse than the unpacking and I am happy to see the light at the end of the boxing tunnel; that first moment you sit down at the end of the day after putting the kids to bed and you can relish the quiet even if it is just for a moment; and finally on this week’s list is good health because I feel like I, and so many people I know, have been sick for so long this winter and you cannot value good health enough.
6. When was the last time someone/thing made you laugh really hard?
Sadly, it was farts. Actually, it was more one of those contagious laughter moments. I was trying to have a serious heart to heart conversation with Miss 5 (of which the topic I can no longer even remember) and she just kept tooting on and on and on and then she got the giggles which made her toot even more which of course made her giggle even more until we were both in peals of laughter and the moment was over, replaced by this contagious happiness.
7. If you were kicked off your computer right now, what would you do?
When I get to use the computer it is usually my down time so I would probably grab a book and find a sunny spot to read, or if it is dark outside and not quite bedtime I might watch a good show on TV, something with lots of swearing and inappropriate themes just to be sure that I balance out the la-la kiddy stuff I put up with all day.
8. What would you love your ‘last meal’ to be?
Something Italian. No, Thai. Actually maybe just a backyard BBQ. Argh, I love food and this is a hard question (sorry nominees). How about a long slow Italian lunch in the backyard with generous platters of food and a big bucket of cold drinks.
9. What is the first song that comes to your mind (really!)?
If I was being completely honest it would be ‘Let it go’ but I am going to rule out all the kids songs from movie soundtracks, abc theme tunes and the pop songs that they demand on rotation and go with a me song. The first ‘me song’ that comes to mind is Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, because it is just such an awesome song to sing along to.
10. Do you prefer Summer (hot) or Winter (cold)?
It is funny how people are so adamantly one or the other. For me, I definitely prefer Summer, as I mentioned in my own Liebster Award answers last week. There is something special about the long days, the endless sunshine in deep blue skies, the food is light and fresh and tasty, everything just feels better. In winter we eat stodgy food, use the cold as an excuse to not exercise, we spend more time indoors, we wrestle with too many layers of blankets on the bed every night, the light is a little less dull, the days are shorter and the rain is heavy and cold. Give me summer any day!
Keep an eye out for my nominees answers too and in the meantime maybe you would like to join in and share your answers?
