I remember very fondly my time spent cruising Halong Bay in Vietnam in a traditional junk boat. The crew were so friendly and happily catered to our toddler and our desire to eat more traditional food rather than the westernised dishes. We woke every morning to stunning views, spent the day swimming, kayaking and hiking the islands to explore caves. We enjoyed a day at a secluded beach where a BBQ seafood feast was served with silver service in the sand. We also had the chance to visit a small fishing village where we met the kids in school, drank bee whiskey and chatted with the locals about their life living on the water. At night we joined the crew as they fished for the luminous squid and watched the phosphorescent waters glow. Looking back through my photos I am suffering from ‘Wanderlust Halong Bay’.
While I have you here, this week I am asking all of my readers to please take 2 minutes to answer a quick survey for me so that I can make this site better for you. Thank you so much for your help.
Have you ever been to Halong Bay?
Would you drink Bee Whiskey?
